Authenticity

Are your perfumes genuine?

Absolutely

Perfumery is a well respected, Australian owned and operated business, which has built a solid reputation providing quality merchandise to retailers for more than fifteen years.

The products that you buy from Perfumery are identical in quality to those that you would buy from a department store, duty-free outlet, perfumery shop or pharmacy.

ALWAYS GENUINE, ALWAYS FRESH - GUARANTEED!

Current Stock

Are all the perfumes listed on your site in stock?

The site is updated daily, in real time. If a perfume goes out of stock, its availability is removed from the web site.

Discontinued Items

How are you able to have discontinued perfumes?

Perfumery sources stock worldwide. Although a perfume may be discontinued in the Australian mainstream market, this doesn't necessarily mean that it is no longer available overseas. The perfume may still be in production in its country of origin. As importers, we have broad access to perfume stocks internationally, and are able to import fragrances which are considered to be discontinued in the local market.

When a manufacturer does discontinue an item, supplies will still be available for some time. Perfumery purchases what we can of this stock in order to be able to maintain supply to our customers. Eventually, however, a discontinued perfume will disappear from the market.

Fragrance Lasting Power

How long does a fragrance last?

This all depends on what type of fragrance you buy and your skin type, below is a guide.

A Parfum (P) has the highest concentration of fragrance and consquently the longest lasting power. (It is also usually the most expensive.) This concentration is its strength and it will last up to 6 hours.

An Eau de Parfum (EDP) is lighter than a Parfum, and less expensive. The characteristics can still last from 3 to 5 hours. Other forms of classification in this strength are Soie de Parfum (SDP) and Parfum de Toilette (PDT).

An Eau de Toilette (EDT) is lighter still, and is great for everyday use. It is less expensive than the EDP and lasts from 2 to 4 hours.

An Eau de Cologne (EDC) is the lightest fragrance and is relatively inexpensive to buy. This strength last up to 1 hour.

How do I pay for my order?

All prices displayed, and transactions are completed in Australian Dollars.

What methods of payment do you offer?

Perfumery offers several payment methods:

We utilise various procedures to ensure protection for the Cardholder. These processes include asking the cardholder to provide evidence of the transaction on their internet bank statement listing, refunding a small amount to the card and requiring you to confirm this amount, or verification over the phone.

Perfumery reports all attempted credit card fraud immediately to ACORN - Australian Cybercrime Online Reporting Network.

At this stage, Perfumery does not ship internationally.

We import all of the products that we sell.

Our strong wholesale background boosts our buying power meaning we can source the highest quality products at very low prices. Everything we sell is IN STOCK, ensuring your order will be dispatched within 24 hours of receipt. If for any reason we cannot supply the item you have ordered, we will contact you before any charges are made to your credit card.

Miniatures

Why do some miniatures have 'Not for Resale', 'Sample' or 'Free Gift' printed on the packaging?

When a fragrance house creates a new perfume, several sizes are manufactured. These may range from a factice (advertising bottle), retail sizes (tester, 150, 125, 100, 75, 50, 30, etc), miniature and vial.

Miniatures are essentially a promotional item. They are generated to be used at the launch of the perfume, as a trial-size or keep-sake. They find their way into coffrets (gift sets), which are mainly seen in Duty Free Stores, and into the general market to be sold as single pieces. During the last fifteen years the sale of miniature fragrances has blossomed into a multi-million dollar business world-wide, which has been stimulated by their appeal as collectables and as an inexpensive way to trial or give a perfume.

In some instances, 'Not for Resale', 'Sample','Free Gift' labelling is still printed on the box. This largely depends on the country of manufacture. Before Perfumery began selling miniature perfumes, we consulted the Department of Trade Practices in Canberra (and subsequently in each of the states where we are represented) about the wording on the boxes. We have been assured by them that because we legitimately purchase these miniatures to sell, they have no concern with the labelling on the boxes.

Online Security

How secure are my details?

We collect your credit card details and transmit them securely using 128-bit Secure Encryption Technology. This ensures that your credit card details are completely secure when you use our site.

Your details are deleted once your order is finalised.

However, credit card fraud is endemic and we need your help to keep such fraud to a minimum. We operate a seven point security check on all credit cards submitted to our website to ensure that the order is not fraudulent. Please do not feel concerned if we contact you for more information.

Perfumes Not Listed On The Site

I'm looking for a perfume that's not listed on your website, can you find it for me?

The perfume you are looking for may simply be out of stock. If it is a regular stock item, it will show on the site, but will be unavailable for purchase. (If your favourite fragrance is displayed in this fashion, please email or call to enquire when we expect it in.)

Alternatively, it may be a perfume that we don't currently carry, but there's a good chance we can find your perfume for you.

Perfumery has well established relationships with leading international distributors. Because of this, we are the best people to come to in order to find a certain product. If we cannot locate the product for you we will be able to tell you why it is not in the market.

Price Competitiveness

If I find a cheaper price for a perfume will you match it?

We'll certainly consider it!

If the competitor site is in Australia, and the price is for an in-stock item of the same quality, then please let us know and we'll see what we can do.

Stores In Australia

Do you have any stores across Australia?

Unfortunately not, but that is why we can keep our prices so low on the Web.

Testers

Why do you sell them?

We sell testers because our customers have requested them. A tester is a fragrance house's own testing perfume, such as you would use to try a perfume at a department store. The fragrance and concentration is identical but because it is a tester the need for fancy packaging is removed. Testers are either unboxed or in the manufacturer's plain box (either with or without a cap).

Testers are the most cost effective way of purchasing a fragrance..

The testers sold on this site have never been sprayed.

Unboxed Perfumes

Why do you sell unboxed stock?

Sometimes the outer packaging of a fragrance becomes damaged in some way. We offer these to you from time to time as a special.

Why Does my Fragrance Smell Different?

Fragrance is very reactive to environmental factors, such as weather, where it is stored, changes in temperature etc. It can also smell different due to personal changes such as diet, medication, increased perspiration (sport) etc. All of these factors can influence how a fragrance sits on your skin. Fragrance houses often re-formulate a fragrance due to a number of reasons; they may not be able to source a particular ingredient, in response to customer feedback, in an attempt to re-launch a brand. This is not always noted on the box itself - often you have to go searching online for detailed information on this.
