The word "Factice" is French for fake or dummy. In perfume, a factice is a perfume bottle replica which is either filled with liquid to resemble fragrance or empty. It is used for display purposes and highly coveted by collectors.
When a fragrance house launches a new perfume, it produces a range of bottle sizes for marketing. Apart from the standard retail sizes (30mL & 50mL, for example), promotional miniatures and vials, the house also manufactures a range of display or advertising sizes. These are the factice, and they come in varying sizes also. The giant (or largest) size is the most prized.
